| Old County Road School is a kindergarten through grade five elementary school in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Our faculty, staff, and administrator strive to create a joyful environment where students have a sense of belonging and significance. The Old County Road community, including all families, embraces the importance of educating the whole child. We realize that our students’ academic and social emotional well-being are important to their healthy development as learners and members of our community. Our focus is to provide a caring, consistent, and stable environment for our students. Old County Road School is committed to our district mission and promise that “Every student will be prepared for continued learning, career, and life.” It is our responsibility to inspire children to be engaged, curious, problem-solvers who are invested in learning about their world. Believing that our students’ education will be enriched by partnerships, we embrace the involvement of our families and community members, such as our police and fire departments, our Parent Teacher Association, and the Smithfield YMCA. These partnerships reinforce our belief as a school that we are all a community of learners. Our school motto is “Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible” and we have adopted the approaches and strategies of Responsive Classroom to help our students practice this motto each and every day. |
