Welcome to Technology High School!
Technology High School, the school of Engineering and Applied Sciences, focuses on a strong academic program integrated with applied science careers (primarily the field of Engineering) and is one of Newark's five magnet schools. Toward this objective, the school has developed relationships with local colleges such as NJIT, Rutgers, Stevens Institute Bloomfield College, Rowan University and Essex County College as well as state businesses and industries, such as Verizon New Jersey, Inc. (formerly Bell Atlantic), PSE&G, and ADP. These partnerships assist students with the transition from secondary education to post secondary options, such as 2/4-year colleges and technical schools, through the following initiatives: Advanced Placement Courses (AP), on and off site college courses taught by college professors for college credit and internships. Our partnership with NJIT and ADP has led to Technology High School's participation in the FIRST (First Inspiration for Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotic competition and is part of the foundation of our Pre Engineering program.

The Pre-Engineering program encompasses various branches of the engineering fields that include programs such as Computer-Assisted Design/Architecture (CAD), Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Computer Networking Systems and Repair. Our communications program includes programs such as: Telecommunications, Office Systems Technology Web Design and Graphic Communications. Students are eligible to receive industry-recognized certificates for CISCO, A+, C-Tech training, Microsoft Office-Excel-PowerPoint and all in of the pre-engineering courses, where college credit can also be attained. All of these programs require and teach sophisticated technical skills which students need to function in this century.

Specifically, Technology High School is committed to teaching and having its student's develop into well rounded adults with high ethical and moral standards while maintaining high academic achievement. We have concentrated on integrating academic and technical competencies into the curriculum as well as ethics competencies that teach students about human relations and other skills necessary to be successful in all their future endeavors.

Although we maintain a rigorous academic and technical program, we have not forgotten the importance of extra-curricular activities and sports. Technology High School offers a wide array of extra-curricular activities and sports, and has been successful in achieving first place in both our Athletic Conference and city-wide tournaments.

Technology High School takes part in a project-based model that fits very well into the current curriculum, resulting in a yearly “project fair”. As a result, staff members receive intensive in-service training in computer literacy and project development. In addition, many teachers have received training in: Advanced Placement, “ looking at student work” and assessment. Every effort is continually being made to assist teachers in the improvement of instruction.

Our School Leadership Committee continues to work on developing a school where character, values, and ethics permeate all areas and levels of instruction. We look forward to the continual integration of technology into the curriculum and to providing our students with the workplace ethics and competencies that will prepare them for successful and multiple careers.

In a world that has fundamentally changed, students need both academic and technical skills to succeed in the global economy. At Technology High School, we attempt to provide our students with these competencies so that they can be productive citizens in a challenging environment.

We are proud of our evolving tradition as we look forward to the future with confidence; for at Technology High School “YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM PANTHER PRIDE!”.
