Welcome to Justus C. Richardson Middle School!
Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Richardson Middle School Website. We are a community of 975 students in grades 6 through 8. Our middle school is a member of the New England League of Middle Schools and our goal is for all of our programming to reflect the Turning Points 2000 design. Our team based model allows students to get to know their fellow students and teachers well. Connecting with the history of Dracut, our school is built on land that was once an airfield, and our school theme is built around this historical fact. This year, our teams are named after airports from around the world. Each hallway is named by a terminal letter much like an airport!

Students complete year-long courses in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and have regular Physical Education in addition to sampling exploratory classes in Art, Music, Health, Computers, and Family and Consumer Science. Many students also participate in our band, strings, and chorus offerings to complete their school day. Additionally, we offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities that include sports, academic clubs, interest/hobby activities, drama productions, and academic support sessions.

The middle school years are a time of rapid development and growth for adolescents. This exciting time is critical to the personal development of your student and the staff at Richardson Middle School takes our role very seriously. Students, teachers, administrators and other staff are empowered to make decisions in a supportive atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance. Due to the competitive nature of our educational, vocational and occupational systems, the students we serve need to be thoroughly prepared for the challenges of high school in order to have the opportunity to experience success and achieve their goals. We can assure you that our staff works tirelessly to prepare our students for continued success in their academics as well as the skills needed to be productive members of the Dracut Community.

The Richardson Middle School encourages active learning for all of our students and faculty. Faculty members are role models and mentors for students. We aim to instill a love of learning and the philosophy that this is a lifelong process. The intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and moral development of our 11 to 14 year olds is a critical responsibility that is the focus of all decisions.

Thank you in advance for both your support and the interest in the Richardson Middle School.
