| Brookside Elementary School serves preschool through fifth grade students. Most grade levels have 3-4 classrooms depending on class sizes. We also house the RISE program, which serves students who are developing independent life skills. Our enrollment for the 2021-22 school year is approximately 490 students. As an educational community, we focus on our PAWS philosophy. We believe if students demonstrate the values below they will become highly successful learners and community members. •P awsitive attitude •A cting responsibly •W orking or playing safely •S howing respect These beliefs are reinforced through the use of the Yale RULER Approach, which promotes effectively understanding and expressing emotions in and out of out the school setting. In addition to our social emotional beliefs, we are constantly working to develop a strong educational program that: •Provides a safe, nurturing and enriching school environment that will instill success, socially and academically •Develops and inspires every child to reach his or her greatest potential •Educates the whole child and promotes lifelong learning •Engages all learners through relevant, inquiry-based instructional practices •Assesses and evaluates data to drive and differentiate instruction •Provides comprehensive guidance and support services •Promotes practices and policies that value safety, diversity and the well-being of all students Education at Brookside is exciting and challenging thanks to our talented and dedicated staff. The principal, faculty and staff are focused on a student-centered education. We believe that the strength of our educational community is only as strong as the bond among student-school and families. The Brookside Parent – Teacher Organization (PTO) also fosters our sense of community. We welcome our parents/guardians and/or volunteers into the school. The PTO and School Council work cooperatively with the administration and staff to improve the quality of education and academic success for our students. We, at Brookside believe that all students can learn, succeed and grow to be contributing, productive citizens for our future society as we continually reflect on current teaching practices, analysis of student learning outcomes, review of current research and the development of short and long term common goals. |
