Job Description
Primary Purpose: Ensure districtwide compliance of Dyslexia program including
identification, servicing and documentation of students with or suspected of having dyslexia.

Qualifications:
Education:
• Master’s degree preferred
• Certified Academic Language Therapist, Dyslexia Practitioner, Dyslexia Therapist
License, or Reading Specialist
• Training Dyslexia and Cognitive Evaluation

Experience:
• Reading and/or Dyslexia Teaching Experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assume responsibility for coordinating the dyslexia program for the district
• Effectively communicate state and district dyslexia policy and guidelines to teachers and staff
• Implement and monitor the screening and referral process for dyslexia evaluation
• Coordinate dyslexia evaluations for Spanish speaking students, evaluate in English, write
evaluation reports and participate in 504 and ARD meetings as needed
• Assist campus staff in developing intervention plans for students
• Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
according to district and state requirements
• Work with bilingual department to ensure that all students with dyslexia are served
• Provide annual parent education training
Travel: In-district travel is required.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with others inside and
outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information
• Intermediate computer competency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to comply with instructions, procedures, standards, and policies that are
obtained within the organization using professional discretion
• Excellent time management skills, good judgment, problem solving, and analytical
abilities in order to effectively meet deadlines
• Ability to write with remarkable clarity and consistency

Interrelations:
• Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
• Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to
complete day to day tasks
• Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations
with tact and diplomacy
• Must understand and respond appropriately to employee needs and maintain a
positive attitude with all colleagues
• Expected to interact with all internal and external caller’s in a friendly, professional
manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
• In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all
assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless
the employee has received approved leave
• Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s
supervisor
• All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a
positive image of ILTexas and is appropriate for their position

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and
peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Available to work 5 days per week 8 hours daily
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
