POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, in collaboration with district and campus administrators, the Educational Diagnostician is responsible for implementing the special education assessment process. Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to develop the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Conducts compliant and accurate assessments for students who are eligible for special education services or who are suspected of having a disability and are in need of special education services including but not limited to bilingual (Spanish) assessments.
• Completes all necessary documents for district processes regarding the provision of special education services.
• Collaborates with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
• Attends all required Staffing/Individual Education Plan meetings and completes accurate paperwork documenting the meetings.
• Assumes responsibility to distribute appropriate assessments/IEP information to various staff members, students and parents.
• Effectively communicates with parents, teachers and other assessment staff members.
• Meets all required timelines for assessment, reports, meetings, and documentation.
• Attends all required meetings and staff development to participate in continuing education activities in order to maintain certification and keep informed of best practices in the field of special education and assessment.
• Follows district, state and federal regulations.
• Provides staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel with identification and understanding of students’ educational needs.
• Attends all required meetings and staff development.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned by the CAO/or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree
• Valid Educational Diagnostician Certification
• Valid Texas Teaching Certification
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience
• Bilingual (Spanish) required
• Experience working with diverse student populations, parents, and other stakeholders

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other campus technology.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and presentation materials/supplies.
• This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
• May work prolonged or irregular hours; maintain emotional control under stress.
• Ability to travel districtwide and statewide as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state’s department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.

• Knowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and compliance
• Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programs
• Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibility
• Ability to interpret federal, state and districtwide laws, rules, and policies
• Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences
• Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills
• Skills in written and oral communication, planning, and organization
• Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research, and technology
• In-depth knowledge of assigned program and service area
• Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data
