BRAINATION, Inc. started as a small, residential charter school in San Antonio in October of 1998, we have since grown to a system of ten schools across Texas. We serve over 3,000 students in our charter schools and thousands more in our partnership, private schools.

Our Afton Oaks campus is located within a residential treatment center located North Central San Antonio. Our middle and high school aged students are 100% at-risk with much potential. Our mission is to increase the capacity for human greatness. Our three imperatives: Belong, Be Great, Find Joy.

We are looking for student-centered teachers to lead in the spirit of our mission to increase the capacity for human greatness. Our learning environment engages students in the construction of understanding through asking questions, exploring, researching, and reflecting. We focus on strong academics but also teach tolerance, value diversity, support justice, and strive daily to fulfill our mission.

    Afton Oaks Campus is located inside of the Hector Garza Residential Treatment Center in San Antonio, Texas.

    Hector Garza is a 125-bed, staff-secure facility, privately operated by the Abraxas Youth and Family Services Program, a division of the Cornell Companies. Child Protective Services (CPS), the Texas Youth Commission, and county juvenile probation departments refer adolescents to the facility.

    Our Afton campus serves students ages 10 to 17 who have severe behavior and emotional disorders. Current enrollment at the campus is 130 students with about 40% in special education. Learn more about us...

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree
      Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
      Meets state certification requirements for subject assignment
      Special Education Certificate, preferred
      3 years teaching experience
      Knowledge of curriculum and technology used in instructional settings
      Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
