Position Title: Part-Time Accounts Payable Clerk

Supervised by: Finance Officer

Job Location: McAllen, TX

Work Schedule: Part-Time. 226 Days

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Funding Source: Regular

Pay Range Based on Education, Experience Certifications and/or Credentials:

$13.00 to $15.00 per hour

Triumph Public High Schools is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented accounts payable clerk for our business office in McAllen, Texas.

 

The accounts payable clerk performs accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.  Tracks all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc. Maintains and reconciles payment ledgers that consists of vendor listings.  Verifies employee expense reports and prepares account analysis on a monthly basis. He/she matches the goods or services to each invoice to avoid paying inaccurate or fraudulent bills. She/he sets invoices up for timely payment and inputs the invoices into Business Office’s computer. Must ensure accuracy when posting payments.  He/she performs other duties assigned within his/her skills, knowledge and capabilities.

 

Qualifications:  High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 24 college credit hours from a university or two-year college course or graduation from a vocational business school preferred. At least one year of experience performing general accounts payable or accounting related type duties such as the use of generally acceptable accounting procedures and use of appropriate technology to prepare correspondence, reports or entering alphabetic, numeric or symbolic data from source documents required.

    For your information, the Student Alternatives Program, is a private, non-profit, community-based, tax-exempt organization under section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although we do not operate any schools in San Antonio, Texas, our central corporate administrative offices are located here. Although our central administrative office is located in San Antonio, we do not have any schools operating in or near San Antonio, Texas.

    In 1998, the State Board of Education approved SAPI’s application to operate four open-enrollment charter districts under Chapter 12 of the Texas Education Code (TEC). On January 10, 1999, all four charter districts became operational. Now, SAPI operates eight public, open-enrollment, charter high school campuses as follows:

    Open enrollment charter schools are state-supported educational institutions in Texas. Thus, these academies can be described as a state-supported, public, open enrollment charter high school in Texas. Combined, these schools have a maximum enrollment capacity of 2,600 students. Normally, all four schools reach an enrollment of approximately 80 percent of their maximum capacity by the end of the first six-weeks of each school year.
