Job Title: Educational Aide
Reports to: Secondary Principal
Service days: 40 hours per week

At NYOS Charter School, we educate the whole student. We foster a collegial Pre-K 12 program that challenges each learner with rigorous academics, innovative strategies, and expectations for civic engagement.

Primary Role:

Provide inclusion support in the general education classroom.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Attend team meetings to prepare/modify activities aligned to students' needs.

Assist teacher with daily classroom lessons/activities; assist with small group instruction; and provide the teacher with updates regarding students' progress.

Assist in maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

Provide differentiated instruction in support of students' goals and objectives in one or more subject areas such as English, mathematics, or science.

Collect data related to students' progress as it relates to the IEP.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Use technology and other equipment and materials to supplement instruction as necessary.

Support with the administration of standardized tests as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

      Educational Aide Certification

      Special Education Certification preferred

      Special Education experience preferred
