Job Description

Primary Purpose: 

The Attendance and Nutrition Clerk’s primary responsibilities are to support the school’s Attendance and Food Service programs.  The Attendance Clerk ensures appropriate documentation is maintained for each and every student regarding attendance and tardiness in school (updating absence/tardy reporting as needed). The Attendance Clerk assists with the onboarding and training of teachers regarding the requirements of accurate attendance reporting on a daily basis.  The Attendance Clerk also provides attendance reports to the Principal/Executive Director on a weekly basis and sends “truancy” notices to families as required.  The Attendance Clerk also maintains all necessary records for auditing purposes.  The Nutrition Clerk coordinates and implements the school nutrition program in accordance with all federal/state requirements. The Nutrition Clerk works hand-in-hand with the contracted program provider ensuring both the breakfast and lunch program requirements are met.  The Nutrition Clerk assists with supervising the dining hall and manning the cash register.  The Nutrition Clerk documents the breakfast/lunch program counts, maintains records for auditing, and assists with the purchasing and delivery of food items.   

Education/Certification

  • Food Handler’s certification

 

Experience:

  • At least one year working in a food establishment, preferred
  • Previous experience using computer/cashier equipment, preferred

 

 Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of collaborating with contracted services personnel
  • Understanding of the attendance and nutritional program requirements
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures associated with attendance/nutrition program requirements
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to follow assignment duties as directed by the Director of Operations/Assistant Principal of Operations
  • Demonstrate a passion for and commitment to EPLA’s mission and educational model
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to: 

 

Attendance

  • Assists teachers with setting up their attendance reporting accounts (especially new teachers)
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of attendance program paperwork
  • Assists with the collection of attendance reporting documents from classroom teachers
  • Communicates to families regarding student absences/tardies (on a daily basis)
  • Provides campus Admin Team members with attendance data on a weekly basis
  • Refers students with excessive absences/tardies to the Dean of Student Services or Assistant Principal of Instruction on a daily basis
  • Processes truancy letters on a weekly basis
  • Assists with coordinating teacher, administrator, student, family conferences regarding attendance
  • Assists with completing truancy court paperwork as needed
  • Assists with translation during attendance meetings as needed
  • Maintains records needed for attendance auditing purposes

 

Nutrition Program

  • Maintains up-to-date Food Handler’s certification
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of nutrition program paperwork
  • Assists with collecting free/reduced lunch applications
  • Assists the Registrar/PEIMS Clerk with coding students free/reduced program PEIMS codes
  • Orders the school breakfast/lunch meals from the contracted service provider(s)
  • Documents the daily food counts for both the breakfast and lunch program, reporting the numbers as required
  • Serves as the dining hall cashier during the breakfast/lunch program
  • Ensures compliance with all federal/state laws associated with the nutrition program
  • Assists classroom teachers with food service protocols as necessary

  • Completing and submitting weekly time-sheets to the Director of Operations/Assistant Principal of Operations

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders.
