Job Description

Primary Purpose: 

The Facilities Manager’s primary responsibilities are to ensure campus safety, fire drill/lockdown requirements, campus maintenance needs, opening/closing of building, facility upgrades, technology system and device support, facility cleanliness, event set-ups, and dining hall supervision.  The Facilities Manager ensures required safety protocols are met.  The Facilities Manager also checks the building each day to report vandalism activities. The Manager also checks the entry/exit doors to ensure they remain locked throughout the school day for security purposes.  The Facilities Manager works hand-in-hand with the Director of Operations/Assistant Principal of Operations to address identified campus facility/safety needs.  The Facilities Manager supports the campus’ Testing Coordinator in meeting all state/federal assessment room set-up requirements. The Facilities Manager assists in covering for lunch breaks for other support staff.   


  • High School Diploma



  • At least one year working in a facilities management or comparable position preferred
  • Previous experience using computer equipment, preferred


 Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of the required safety and fire/lockdown drill protocols
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures associated facility maintenance processes
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to follow assignment duties as directed by the Director of Operations/Assistant Principal of Operations
  • Availability to work beyond an 8 to 5 work day
  • Willingness to assist on another EPLA if needed
  • Demonstrate a passion for and commitment to EPLA’s mission and educational model
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to: 


  • Assisting campus administration in providing a safe school environment conducive to learning
  • Assists teachers with setting up their instructional materials/devices (i.e. computers, promethean panels, projector screens)
  • Assists with the movement and tracking of classroom/office equipment, furniture, technology devices, and supplies
  • Assists with the set-up for school events
  • Immediately notifies the Executive Director/Principal of any school vandalism
  • Assists with cleaning the dining hall following breakfast/lunch programs
  • Assists with campus duty assignments to ensure student/staff safety (e.g. traffic flow, dining hall, all area open to students)
  • Coordinates janitorial services
  • Ensures the building’s entry/exit doors are secured throughout the school day and before closing at night
  • Conducts and documents fire drills/lock-down drills
  • Ensures all campus permits are up-to-date and maintained
  • Ensures all fire extinguishers are maintained and serviced according to regulations
  • Ensures all permits and notices are posted as required
  • Provides other support staff with coverage for breaks and lunch

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders.
