MATH DATA SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Math Data Specialist will serve as a full time Teacher on Special Assignment focusing on increasing math
achievement through using data in grades K-5 at West Mound ES which has been identified as
Focus School under the Ohio Department of Education guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Math Data Specialist will provide job-embedded math
and data analysis professional development and curricular support to individual
teachers and TBTs at Olde Orchard and Woodcrest Elementary School. Duties will include but are
not limited to
the following
areas:

Support
teachers and TBTs in the review of data assessments and
implementation of data needs
·
Assess
specific building needs and support BLT
in the development of a school improvement plan using data
·
Collaborate
with teachers, team and administrators
to align standards based resources to data based needs
·
Effectively support classroom teachers and TBTs in the implementation of math strategies
·
Provide
ongoing feedback to teachers in developing data and math “looks fors”
·
Provide job-embedded support to individual teachers, Teacher Based Teams (TBTs), and Building Leadership Teams (BLT)
·
Deliver professional development to
teachers in a variety of areas including but
not limited to: assessment development,
Ohio State Assessments, deconstructing standards, instructional strategies, and the use of data to inform instruction.

Collaborate
with teachers, teams and administrators, external
partners, district
departments, and community partners
·
Assist
teachers, teams and administrators
in analyzing data to make informed decisions regarding assessments and student
needs.
·
Work
with teachers to use data to inform and
guide instructional practices in order to meet
varying student needs and increase achievement
·
Engage
with staff to
design job-embedded
professional development aligned to the
school improvement plan
·
Demonstrate
knowledge of the necessary work of priority schools
·
Other
duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·
Must possess valid Ohio Teaching licensure appropriate for elementary school level
·
Minimum
of five years classroom teaching experience
in an urban setting
·
Knowledge
of effective math practices for elementary school students
·
Knowledge
of NWEA/MAP and ALEKS
·
Thorough
understanding of the Ohio Improvement Process
·
Ability
to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
·
Available
for extended hours including mornings, evenings, Saturdays and summer
·
Flexible, resourceful, enthusiastic, and high
energy level
